So sad to learn about Tom's passing. I hope his family is comforted with the knowledge that so many of Tom's Penn classmates respected and even loved him as the fine, mensch he was.

In light of Tom's passing, in retrospect, the following is a poignant statement that Tom sent me in April 2016. I read this at the April 2016 Spring Banquet of the Sphinx Senior Society when Lance Laver, Lou Marks, Howard Coonley and I celebrated our then upcoming 50th Penn reunion"

    Tom Lang's Statement to Steve:

“…Time is our most precious treasure because it is limited. We can produce more wealth, but to date we have not been able to produce more time. When we give someone or something our time, we actually give a portion of our life that we will never get back. Our time is our life. The best present that you can give your family, friends or the world is your time. May you have the wisdom to give it wisely. May you share your time to create understanding, love and a desire to survive in a more stable world. Use your time to make the world a happier place. Not with material “things” but with the elimination of prejudice, the elimination of value systems tied to the accumulation of “megawealth” and with the elimination of the need to tell the world that you are always right.

I find in life there are 6 steps to happiness so in closing I will share them with you: -Frown less and smile more -Talk less and listen more -Judge less and accept more -Watch less and do more -Complain less and appreciate more -Fear less and love more. Again, congratulations and may your time on earth be rewarding.”

I treasure my memories of Tom, particularly serving with and under his leadership of the Chapter of the Cathedral Church of St. Luke - Orlando. His favorite word to us in our work was "ponder," which he led us to do in a most prayerful way. His and Marilyn's flagship support of their children in the Cathedral's music programs will be long remembered.
Deepest sympathies to the entire Lang family as we lovingly ponder Tom in eternal light and life.

Marilyn, Tommy, Sarah and Annie, this is just tragic. I saw Tom less than a week before he died. I was in Lake Nona Fl. and he just popped over and surprised me to say hi. He looked great and we had a very nice chat and a big hug. Later I sent him an email with condolences about brother Joe and got note back in which he said "Need to live everyday that you have." Some very prophetic words. Can't believe it. What a wonderful guy, everybody loved him. What a loss.
